I Scream You Scream

Updated: Jan 27, 2020

I woke on Sunday morning with the inclination to read a book about Moldavite (the green crystal that fell to Earth). It had been a while since I flicked through its pages, or indeed held Moldavite, so I was happy to oblige.

After I put the book down, I soon went off searching for my own piece of the extra-terrestrial gem. Its bottle-green and organic texture is quite like no other crystal in my collection, so I decided to keep it close by me for the day.

In the afternoon, my family and I went for a walk to the local marina, to do a bit of people watching at the harbourside cafe. As I am on a diet I only had a small hot chocolate, and an even smaller crumb of a biscuit shared between the three of us. Refreshments soon devoured, I had a craving for my favourite ice-cream from the shop next door, however I remembered that I was on a diet and had to be good.

But then, as I gazed out of the window, I spotted three people walking past, all with the exact same favourite ice-cream as me; how cruel the world can be at times!

It was soon time to head for home, but before we set out, there were one or two cat related provisions we needed from the convenience store next door. As I waited outside, keeping our dog company, I saw a father and his daughter exit the shop with three ice-creams. Maths may not be my stongest asset, however I could tell 3 into 2 doesn't go!

I watched as the pair eagerly opened their own ice-creams, and then looked about to offer their spare one to passers-by. I was standing too far away minding the dog to be in reaching distance so I gave up the possibility of receiving such devine bounty. Until that is no-one who was offered the ice-cream wanted it.

Joys of yoys, my yearning eyes soon met the fathers gaze; it was a look more powerful than love, it was mano-a-mano, a deep instinct of men realising that they had found each other, the true one. He walked over to me and before he could ask, "would you like....." my hand was thrust out in salivatory anticipation.

Gratefully received I began to wonder what had just happened; was it divine intervention, power of thoughts, universal manifestation, or perhaps was it because I was carrying the piece of Moldavite?
